What’s In Your Playbook?

With the New Year come new beginnings, a fresh start, a set of goals and expectations; some old to improve on and some new to raise the bar of the previous year.

Confucius wrote, “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” As we embark on 2016, we need to take a moment to reflect on the lessons learned and ask ourselves a few questions. As we all know, laying a solid foundation and execution of the processes are the keys to our success. Here are some questions I ask myself:

  1. Did I set a measurable and attainable goal for myself and my team? 
  2. Did we exceed the expectations of our clients in 2015? 
  3. Did I track and review our progress? 
  4. How can I motivate myself and my team? 
  5. How do I measure success, both personally and professionally? 

We need to set our sights on our goals, whether that be improving project delivery times, reducing job site injuries, or promoting better communication among workers in the field. We need to ensure everyone on our team have a copy of the playbook. We need to empower and encourage each other to perform to the highest level of excellence, and most importantly we need to exceed the expectations of the client every time every time we go out to perform a job!

Anything is possible with a solid playbook – great play calling, player execution, and a packed stadium full of lifetime fans! How many of you thought the Carolina Panthers would be undefeated this season? I would be willing to bet that the Panthers expected it! Here at Rolyn, we strive to exceed client expectations both in our customer service and quality of work. As I look back on 2015, I am pleased with the efforts my team made, and am even more excited to see where we will go in 2016.
